To allow for a minimalist design and maximum transparency floating stairs are best complemented with frame-less glass guards. Our patented glass hardware allows us to perfectly line up glass panels. Glass is secured directly to the metal stair skeleton for enhanced strength.

The minimum required thickness for a glass guard is 12 mm Safety glass, tempered or laminated, must be used per the building code. Most often regular clear glass is used. It has a slight green tint that is more noticeable at the glass edges. Extra clear glass with crystal clear edges is available. Extra clear glass is also known as star fire glass or low iron glass. Acid etched glass offers a translucent appearance which obscures the view while maintaining a high level of light transmittance. Transmission of light may also be reduced by using tinted glass.
We also make both indoor and outdoor frame-less glass guards including pool fences.
Glass panels are side mounted to a support. We use 1-1 / 2” diameter cylindrical stainless steel standoffs. The standoffs are stainless steel finish. As a custom finish, standoffs may be blackened or polished.
Our patented adjustable standoffs allow perfect alignment of glass panels without the need for glass caps or any other hardware to help with glass guard geometry, even if the mounting support surface is not plumb and straight.
Stainless steel or aluminum. Glass is secured to the posts with adjustable standoffs. Our adjustable standoffs have enabled us to make foot tall “mini posts” that can satisfy structural requirements and allow a perfect geometrical alignment of glass panels.
